I first started tutoring whilst I was at Cambridge. Here I was invited back to Merchant Taylors’ School to talk to prospective candidates and help them with their Oxbridge applications. Since then, I decided that I really enjoyed teaching and to take a more proactive role in it. When I arrived at Cambridge I decided to start tutoring biology A-level. After 3 years, I was approached and offered a job at Cambridge University to teach anatomy to the first year medical Cambridge students in supervisions (essentially what Cambridge calls tutoring). I have had to teach, as well as set and mark essays to Cambridge University students. I was not given this job because I was the best in the year. Instead, my supervisors told me that the best teachers require different attributes. And it is these attributes that make me so adept to private tuition.
